Get Your Own Picture project unites 64 young people from Turkey and Germany led by four team leaders to run film workshops and produce films as end products. The aim is to promote a sense of ‘Europeanness’ among young people from every strata of society and encourage them to participate in the democratic process. The underlying theme will be European Citizenship.

The "Youth Exchange" will take place in Detmold, Germany between 7th- 20th of June 2011. Having learned the theoretical basics of making movies, the participants will realize their own ideas and shoot short films relating to the topic "World of Working - Being European”. These films will be shown at the 7th International Festival and will be also shown in other festivals all over the world.

The contact between the youth from EU shall open a wide dialog and international work connections. The participants will understand the similarities and differences among their historical roots and experience what it means to act, to work and to think inter-culturally. The common passion about the medium “film” will be very helpful in achieving these goals. Despite the different cultural contexts and different religious views, the participants will experience that there are still a lot of similarities among themselves.

Sunday, 19th of June, at ... pm at "Junge Triebe Festival" in Bielefeld, Theaterlabor will be the screening of the workshop films, which will be produced during this two weeks. All of you, who are interessted in this project or in films are pretty welcome! Entrance 5 €.
